Yey! WordPress 2.5 is now available for download. Many things have changed and introduced in this new version of my favorite blogging platform, that’s why I always enjoy blogging using it. This latest version introduces cool and customizable Administration Page, with a very informative Dashboard. If I want to know how many people stumbled upon here, all I have to do is go to the Dashboard and see the stats (provided with WordPress.com Stats)
There are many changes in this latest stable release from its release candidates. Some of the things that I have noticed were only minor ones, mostly aesthetics, and does not contribute to the functionality itself. These comparisons where made from 2.5RC1 to this latest version. I was able to upgrade to RC2, but I have encountered some problems (which I can’t investigate and solve due to lack of free time) so I decided to install the RC1 back.
In RC1, I find it difficult to differentiate which of my plugins were activated and not. The rows of plugins are colored gray when deactivated and white when activated (or vice-versa? I am not sure. All I know is that gray and white are the only colors then). Now, activated plugins are colored green, so I may easily see which plugins are on the roll.
In RC1, when I click the ‘Visit Site’ link, my blog was loaded to a new window. At first this is great for me, when I do some theme-tweaking activities. But then I found myself looking at multiple tabs with my blogs loaded on them. Now, (or maybe in RC2) they rolled back the functionality and when I click the link, it loads my blog to the current window.
I am really having fun with this new version of WordPress. The changes made in this release were based on users’ feedbacks, that’s why it gives me more reason to love this blogging platform. Kudos to Developers!
