The P4TAL

Naalala ko nung High School pa lang ako, we have this English class that discusses Greek Mythology. I am really amazed on how these ancient Greeks came up with the stories like how the gods were created by the universe (contrary to the Christian beliefs that the God created the universe) and how they picture the Underworld (kung saan mas na-amazed ako).

Narevive yung amazement ko sa topic na ito nung natapos ko yung God of War: Chains of Olympus na game sa PSP. It was a game based on the Greek Mythology. I really love how the Underworld was depicted in this game. Andon si Charon the Ferryman, titan Atlas at si Persephone (too bad hindi ko nakita si Cerberus, the three-headed dog that likes chocolate cake). Medyo may kaunting differences lang yung story nito sa mythology, like yung kung bakit si Atlas yung naging tagapasan nang earth, at yung pagiging God of War ni Kratos, yung main character sa game. Pero overall, ayus.

Isa rin sa mga astig ang pagkakadepict sa Greek Myth e yung movie na Troy, though walang naging appearance ang mga gods. Buck naked Achilles (baliw na baliw ang mga badingers dito), the ever beautiful Helen (dito ako baliw na baliw), and the loving Hector. I dislike Paris ever since, dahil kung hindi sa kalokohan niya walang mangyayaring rambulan. Hehe..

Some of my beliefs were also influenced by mythologies, like the love story of Cupid and Psyche. To give you some background, Cupid fell in love with Psyche, pero ayaw ni Cupid na malaman ni Psyche kung sino siya, so they just make love in the dark. One time, habang natutulog si Cupid, itong pasaway na si Psyche, nag ilaw nang lamp, para makita ang lover niya. Nung malaman niya, nag attempt siyang hahalikan si Cupid, kaso nahulog yung lampara kaya lumikha nang ingay at nagising si Cupid. Nung malaman niya ang kalokohang ginawa nang gelpren niya, lumipad siya paalis after saying that “Love can never live without Trust, gaga!”. Kaya mula nun, naniwala ako na trust plays a vital role in a relationship. (O di ba, baduy. hehe)

Nung High School ako naenjoy ko rin yung mga artworks that depicts some events in the myths, kasi laging nude. Nagtatawanan kami dati sa klase pag nakikita namin yun, tapos may isang geek na nagtanong kung bakit daw ang hilig sa burles nung mga ancient Greeks. Sabi nang teacher namin dati, Greeks believes that the Human Anatomy is the greatest art kaya gusto nila, hangga’t maaari, walang masyadong damit, para daw mapakita kung gaano kaperfect ang Human Anatomy. Geek Stuff, I know.

Yan lang naman yung ilan sa mga things that amazes me. I am psyched about things like that. They’re so legen… wait for it… dary!
